Frank Keim

I am known as “Mr Frank” at LMI. I teach in the most interesting basement around! I started learning music in 1974 at the age of five, and with the exception of an active duty stint in the Army and a time of high demand at work prior to LMI, I have never stopped practicing and learning. I am a devoted Roman Catholic, a husband to an amazing wife, a father to two incredible children, and a grand-father to three and a fourth on the way!
I have always loved music and the challenge of performing. The only thing I love more than performing is mentoring young musicians. I teach them that music is language; an interaction between people. Aspiring musicians need to learn to speak it, feel it and write it to become literate. These technical skills lead to a musical instinct that can be trusted to support the creative force. When a good amount of work has been done, the focus of the musician can be turned outward on the audience where it really belongs.
I approach each student with an open mind. I find out how they learn, what they like and what their goals are and then use my experience to develop a program for them. It can evolve as they evolve and therefore stays fresh and fun. I try to never let the routine become mundane or “like work.”
I have been teaching here in the Lovettsville community since 2004 and have no intention of stopping. Every student is a new horizon for me and figuring out how kids learn, process and succeed has become a way of life. I develop them as far as they want to go. I want them to exceed my abilities, and to fulfill the goals they seek. I use every bit of creativity, discipline and experience I have each day in this pursuit.
